49ers Injury News: Deebo Samuel's NFC Championship Status in Doubt

Shoulder Injury Casts Uncertainty on Star Receiver's Availability

NFL Playoff Update

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel suffered a shoulder injury during the team's 24-21 victory over the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Divisional Round on Saturday, January 21, 2024. The severity of the injury and Samuel's status for the NFC Championship game remain uncertain.

Samuel suffered the injury in the third quarter of the game. He was targeted by quarterback Brock Purdy on a deep pass but was tackled hard by Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander. Samuel immediately grabbed his left shoulder and was escorted to the sideline. He did not return to the game.

This is the second shoulder injury of the season for Samuel. He sustained a hairline fracture in his left shoulder in Week 6 against the Cleveland Browns and missed three games. He returned to action in Week 9 and has been a key contributor for the 49ers ever since.

The 49ers are scheduled to host the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship game on Sunday, January 29. Samuel's status for the game will be determined by the results of further testing and evaluation.
