## Coronation Street's Joe Wandera leaves the cobbles after four years
Joe Wandera has bid farewell to Coronation Street after four years, after deciding to leave Weatherfield to start a new job in South Africa.
The actor, who first appeared on the soap as Sam Blakeman's love interest in 2018, has left the cobbles after filming emotional scenes with his on-screen family in recent weeks.
Sam, played by Jude Riordan, was the result of a one-night stand between Nick Tilsley and Natasha Blakeman. After Natasha tragically died in the factory collapse in 2019, Joe found himself becoming increasingly responsible for his young son.
In a recent episode, Joe decided to return to South Africa to start a new job, after his friend Jacob told him about an opportunity at his company.
During a leaving party at the Rovers Return, Joe admitted to Eileen Grimshaw that he never imagined he would stay in Weatherfield for so long, but he was now ready to move on.
As he prepared to leave, Joe gave his son a heartfelt speech, telling him how proud he was of the young man he had become.
He then said goodbye to his friends and family, before walking out of the Rovers Return for the last time.
Speaking about his departure, Joe said: "It's been a privilege to play Joe Wandera for the past four years. I've loved every minute of it and I'll miss the cast and crew dearly."...
He added: "I'm excited to see what the future holds and I'm looking forward to new challenges. I know that Joe will be back in Weatherfield one day, but for now it's time for a new chapter in his life."...
Joe's departure is a major loss for Coronation Street, but it's also a reminder that the soap is constantly evolving.
With new characters arriving all the time, there's always something to keep viewers entertained.
